Rural Development Institute-HIHT

RDI is an Out Reach wing of Himalayan Institute Hospital Trust founded in 1989 by H.H Dr. Swami Rama. Over the years it has reached out all over the state of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh and parts of Uttar Pradesh. So far RDI through its services has benefited more than 10 lakh rural population residing in more than 1100 villages in the interiors of the Himalayas.

About Me

Rural Development Institute-HIHT: Dehradun, Uttarakhand, India; RDI primarily works on Health, Education, Livelihood, Water Sanitation and Development issues. RDI has worked as a technical training agency for health and adolescent at the state level by Ministry of Health & Family Welfare to develop the capacity of ASHA workers and NGO personnel for effective service delivery. Through its capacity building programs it is working with Health, PRI, Education and ICDS department for ensuring adolescent friendly services. RDI facilitates youth by establishing their linkage with various financial institutions for their economic empowerment through micro credit programs, and as well as training on Life Skills and Reproductive Health which have benefited large number of young men and women so far. RDI has also been designated as a technical implementing agency by the Population Foundation of India for implementing Quality Family Planning Program towards developing model for ensuring quality family planning services. RDI also worked as the State Training and Resource Centre, Ministry of Health in the states of Uttarakhand and Himachal Pradesh for capacity building and effective implementation of HIV/AIDS prevention programs.
